Common Time

My parents and sister visited us in Brooklyn yesterday, and I'm thinking back, once again, to my trip to Boston.

It was so pretty.  Though it wasn't, it looked like spring.

Here are some shots I took of the Boston Common- what a glorious place!

The Thinker

There is a tiny little park between 26th and 27th streets between Broadway and 6th ave, where I used to eat lunch fairly often when I was in school nearby.  One day, I stopped there to relax while enjoying a little breakfast on the go.  This man was sitting just across a divide from me, staring off into space, pondering something.  He looked oddly serene as he sat.

The Leaves in the Trees

I love lying on the ground in a park, staring up through the trees.  When I was a little girl, I could do this in my own backyard.  Now that I seem to be a city mouse rather than a country one, I must go to parks to enjoy this privilege.  It's especially nice when the sky is a bit cloudy, so that the trees form shadows, like they do here.

Cheers to life's little pleasures!

The Corner

At one entrance to Hampstead Heath, there is a beautiful old mansion, made of brick.  Apparently, at many of the entrances to the park there are old mansions, but this is the entrance from which I chose to enter, and I found this building to be particularly beautiful.  It threatened rain the entire day that I was at the Heath.  I kept fearing that I would have to bolt out of the park and find the nearest bus, that could take me remotely near where I lived in London.  However, by some beautiful twist of fate, it rained for about twenty minutes before I arrived, stopped, and held off until I got home.  I was so happy.  I had walked around a fairy tale park for hours under a cloudy sky.  What could be more magical?

Pink is Pretty

I think that my title pretty much covers it.  This rose was one of hundreds of bright pink roses in Stuyvesant Square Park a few weeks ago.  They were intertwined through trestles, and around small garden statues.  Once again, I found myself wishing that I had a garden so that I could fill it with roses.

Feelin Blue

The flowers in New York City this summer have been extraordinary.  I apologize for the massive number of posts dedicated to them, but they have just been SO FANTASTIC that I absolutely cannot. help. myself.  Take these for instance.  I was trying to hurry towards the subway to get home one afternoon, because I had things to do, but, on my way through Union Square,  these called me towards them.  Silly flowers, making me take pictures :)

Snowy Garden

This is a view of St. James Park in London.  Everyone in London gets terrified when there is this much snow.  Planes don't fly.  People stock up on food.  Having grown up in the Northeastern United States, I thought this was absolutely ridiculous.  I love a little dusting of snow.  I think it's pretty.  This photograph seems to prove my case.
