Lavender's Blue (Dilly Dilly)

Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, lavender's green,
When I am king, dilly, dilly, you shall be queen.
Who told you so, dilly, dilly, who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly, dilly, that told me so.
Lavender's green, dilly, dilly, Lavender's blue,
If you love me, dilly, dilly, I will love you.
Let the birds sing, dilly, dilly, And the lambs play;
We shall be safe, dilly, dilly, out of harm's way.
I love to dance, dilly, dilly, I love to sing;
When I am queen, dilly, dilly, You'll be my king.
Who told me so, dilly, dilly, Who told me so?
I told myself, dilly, dilly, I told me so.

Pastel Playground

As I said in the last post, I went to Sea World on my birthday with Danny.  Everything was so happy, the people, the decorations, the playful sea lions (more to come on that).  The main atraction was obviously the aquatic life, but the overall decoration of the place was rather lovely.  Since it's in San Antonio, a lot of the plants are more desert standards.  Being from the Northeastern United States, that looks pretty foreign.  Add onto that Florida pastel buildings and statues... and the whole place looks  kitchy and fun.  This playground is a pretty decent indication of the feel of the place.

A note for everyone... you may notice that I changed the format of the page again, just a little bit this time.  The header is smaller, I'm listing fewer blogs on the sidebar, and I have links to other places where you can check out my work.  Please, let me know what you think!  I know that a lot of people look at this blog, but I don't hear from many of you that often.  Great ways to let me know your opinions are by checking the boxes at the bottom of each post (the ones that say beautiful, cool, interesting, etc.) or by leaving a comment.  Anyone can leave a comment- you don't have to be a google member.  Where it says Google ID, just scroll down and choose Name/  URL.  The URL doesn't have to be a real one either :P

If you really like what you see, why not follow me?  Click on the box that says "Follow" in the sidebar.  Or, just click on this link right here.

Thank you!!

Express Yourself

Loveliest wall art that I have ever seen.  It was on a little back alleyway near the castle, and was the only graffiti in English I saw on my trip to Slovakia.  Which makes sense, since a good number of people there did not speak English.  The couple of Slovakian phrases I taught myself on the plane turned out to come in handy more often than expected.  Anyways, this phrase, and the little heart, evoke so much hope.  Especially their placement on the crumbling wall.  It reminds me that even in times of turmoil, art can still make us feel better.  There is always something lovely in the world, and that something lovely might just be you.

Berries of Blue

I somehow keep finding myself taking photographs at the Union Square Greenmarket.  It's probably because I walk through it a few times a week, but it also might be because the place is just inspiring.  Union Square Park is lovely anyway, but fill it with fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods, meats, wines and flowers, and it becomes a place of magic that tourists never think of when they visit New York City.  This city is so comfy, I associate it with tiny coffee shops with thick velvet curtains, farmers markets. tiny theatres and parks full of flowers, rather than the hustle and bustle of the traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel, or the lights in Times Square.  I just wish that everyone who visited this city took the time to go other places than just the "tourist area" in central Manhattan... and maybe eat some blueberries.

Sneakers

When she came to visit, my friend Bianca was wearing these excellent sneakers.  I am not a big sneaker person, and by that, I mean that if you catch me wearing sneakers anywhere other than the gym, you have seen a rare sight.  However, I love them on other people, and she has that flair to pull off ones with lots of bright colours, like these.  We were on one of the balconies at South Street Seaport, she was sitting on a chair and I was sitting on the ground, and I couldn't help but take this shot.

Happiness

Because nothing in the world could possibly make me happier than a giant, pink, inflatable dolphin on the Coney Island Boardwalk.

Wet and Wild

I was in Battery Park about two weeks ago and noticed this stunning fountain.  It's basically in the shape of a spiral, and at night, lights up cream coloured, with one shot of blue in the center.  Rather than being closed off with a pool, it is part of the sidewalk.  Which means that, if you walked over it in a moment of calm, you might think that you were standing in a puddle, and then suddenly be attacked by jets of water!  I was hoping to watch someone do this, but alas.  Nothing quite so funny happened.  Maybe next time I'm there, I'll forget and get swamped.
