Seeking Sunlight

The past few days I have been trying to not be on the computer as much- it's amazing how technology so easily allows us to forget "real life."  Getting sucked into the world of the virtual is surprisingly easy.  Blogger, Tumblr, Facebook, Email, Etsy, Computer games... they can just slurp your life away if you aren't careful.  And my queued blog posts haven't been posting, so there isn't even a great post here to show my efforts! Ah well, you all get this lovely one instead.  

 

There's a big bright beautiful world out there, and it's so easy to sit and stare at a screen instead of the sunlight. Even though it's freezing here, it's still sunny out most of the time.  In Florida, it was sunny and warm... I want to go back!  Get me away from this frigid land!  (Just kidding.  I love it here.  It's just cold).

So, in celebration of the day here in New York City that started out at 1 degree Farenheit, enjoy some more of my summery Florida photographs.

Beach Haven Sunrise

 

For the past two monthes, I have been living in Beach Haven, New Jersey.  It's a pretty little town- mostly a summer resort.  My grandparents have a house there, and a lot of my favourite childhood memories are associated with this place.  This time, I was there working at Surflight Theatre, an amazing regional theatre that I have worked at before as an intern. 

One thing that's wonderful about working at Surflight... it's two blocks away from the beach.  If the working hours were shorter, I would have been on the beach all of the time.  As it was, I worked crazy long hours, but I made sure to get on the beach at least once every few days.  Often, this was at night.  Sometimes, though, I went early in the morning.  

These photos were taken from the end of my grandparents' block, around 8AM on a glorious and warm September morning.

Holes in the Sand

There was this one area in Coney Island, just off of the pier, where about ten children were digging shallow holes in the sand.  They'd wait for the waves to fill them up, then sit in them, cooling off in the shallow, constructed tide pool.  This little boy was waiting for his to fill up again.
